The Blessing Of Having Good Friends

Life will throw many curve-balls at you, many times you'll find yourself in the corner surrounded by challenges and not knowing what to do, but then out of nowhere those that love and care for you will show up and help you through all of it, not only giving you hope but aiding you in this conquest called life. There is a huge importance in finding good reliable friends, people that will stay by your side through thick and thin, always aiding, and sometimes even self-sacrificing, which is the ultimate form of true love and friendship.

For some reason when we face problems individually many a times we cannot see a solution alone, it is as if there is something covering our eyes not allowing us to find the right path that will lead us away from the problem and  towards the solution. Friends are the blessing that come and help us take off what is blinding us and see the light, see what we could not see before and understand that which was right in front of us but was being ignored due to our own self-blinding.

After you're no longer blinded by a situation the reality of the whole dilemma might overwhelm you, it might cause you to stumble and feel like you have no way out, as if you were alone all along, and again a friend comes to the rescue and aids you through it all, helping you with advice, filling your head with alternatives and possibilities, that aid you to think outside of your own box and find the solution you've been looking for.

One of the most important things to remember is that friends help each other grow, as the old saying goes "just as iron sharpens iron, so does a friend sharpen another friend". Meaning, yeah you can mature face situations alone and grow by yourself, but only so much, there is only so much that one can do alone, we need good friends, people that will tell us when we are wrong, encourage us when we are right, fight along side us when we need help, and love us when we feel like no one else does, this is what a true friend is, someone who is always there for you no matter what, telling you the matter of fact, even if you don't want to hear it, when the occasion calls for it.

All these things are a blessing in life, and all are gifts that should not be overlooked, but there is another element to friendships, a huge blessing, the blessing of good times and laughter. There is something to be said about the freedom the occurs when you find a group of friends that you can be completely honest with and still be loved. One should never overlook those friends, they are few and far between, a good friend is worth more than gold, remember that, keep them close, always by your side, acknowledge them and love them, seek to be the best friend you can be, for good friends are hard to come by and truly, as the Beatles song goes, "I get by with a little help from my friends", taken from the movie "Across The Universe"

Take the time today to call a friend and thank him/her for being there for you, there is nothing wrong with telling a friend you are thankful for them, and hey, it's a great thing to hear, so make a friend's day by letting them know that you care.

A Little Motivation

There is an art to being grateful, to being able to look at all your problems and troubles and instead of focusing on the negative to take the time to focus on the positive things happening at the time or that have occurred in the past. The art of gratitude is a neglected art for good reason, it’s much easier to focus on the negatives that life brings than the positives. Thus I feel that there is an importance in talking about this, surely you are going through some sort of tough time right now, and surely there might not be many solutions to your dilemma, or at least it might seem like there aren’t any solutions, my advice is take breath, take a second to focus on the good things, on all the conflicts you’ve overcome and notice all the blessings that have gone unnoticed within your life.

The worst part about bad times is that they never come alone, they always come in groups, thus making it seem like life is closing in on you, and that there is no way out. This is not the case, yes when life throws troubles your way they generally come in packs, but there are always ways out, ways solutions. When you are undergoing a problem it’s tough to see the solution, but that does not mean that the solution is not there. And remember that sometimes the solution is as simple as “let it be”, some problems just need to be worked out by themselves, you cannot and will never be able to solve all the problems in your life, thus the importance to take a breath and realize that you don’t have to, that sometimes you just gotta let things go and let the bad times run their course.

The key here is to remember the good times, to remember the key awesome moments in your life, and I bet they are many. Everyone experiences good times, no one ever only has bad things going on in their life. The trouble is realizing that you are de-prioritizing the good things and prioritizing the bad things. Things like being alive get taken for granted until that becomes a problem. Whatever is not a problem in your life is a potential thing to be grateful for.

“If it wasn’t this it would be something else” so remember to be grateful, remember that you are not alone in your troubles, remember that though things might seem bad that there is always a way out, always a solution. And remember to smile more, to laugh more, to surround yourself with good friends and remember the good times that are happening and those that have passed.

            Be Grateful.

Steve Jobs 1955 - 2011, Remembering a Titan

Steve Jobs just recently passed away last Wednesday afternoon catching most of us by surprise. There are many videos online right now celebrating his life and accomplishments, I've searched the net and I think these three articles were the best ones to go take a look at. With the passing of a Titan, we must pay our respects and remember the impact he had upon us all.

One of the writers for IGN  Scott Lowe, recently put up an article celebrating Steve Jobs' life and accomplishments. IGN also put on a video remember all that he accomplished, I felt it was not only a heartfelt article, but it also highlighted some accomplishments that most don't know about, and focused a good bit on his past as well.

John Markoff of the New York Times also put up an article worth checking out, the NYT website is easy to use and has plenty of pictures from his life, to family, interactions, and more.

The L.A.Times outdid themselves on this one, by following this link you'll be linked to a video page, from there there are various articles, pictures and more videos celebrating Jobs' life. I recommend checking it out.

There is an importance to remembering the men and women that have shaped our culture so significantly. While you are reading all these articles, the point is not to make everyone sad, but to see what a life filled with accomplishments looks like, a life of hard work, inspiration, and dream fulfillment.
One of the greatest inventors of our time has passed away, let us remember him, and celebrate his life.
