"Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'" To Finish Off This week

So so so, here we are, Friday at last. I am feeling much better and hopefully will have some articles coming to you next week. I've been working on trying to watch all the new shows that are coming out this fall, so expect to get some reviews next week. I did get to watch Taken 2 last week, but due to the flu was not able to write on it. To be frank, I didn't want to write about it. It just disappoints on so many levels. Just name it Taken 1.5 and I would appreciate it more. Anyway, here is the last YouTube talent for a little while, the great "Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'?" , I hope your Friday has been going well and that you may escape the flu and get some laughs from these videos. For more videos follow this LINK.

Hope you all have a great Friday,

Funny Or Die: A Tribute

So there won't be a post today, I've spent the last 8 hours helping my younger sister move from home to a new apartment, though rewarding to see a smile on her face, the affair was rather tiresome, but I cannot leave you all with nothing, so I wanted to introduce you to one of my favorite sketch comedy crews online, funny or die. I thought that everyone knew about them but apparently there are still a ton of people that have not gotten involved in their awesomeness, follow this link and you'll be seeing is the reason why I didn't go watch the new Bourne movie, I'm sure it was super entertaining and all but honestly, wasting 10-15 dollars on a reboot/sequel just seemed too much for me, I'll wait for Netflix, much better idea. Without further ado here are some awesome videos from funny or die, also check out their site: funnyordie.com for more content. Oh, one important bit of information about funny or die is that it was started by Will Ferrell and some of his friends, so the videos host a large class of awesome talent, like a ton of celebrities have gone there, so give it a look, I assure you that you will be entertained, they did a few really funny sketches about the Olympics, they haven't posted them on youtube yet so I can't show them here but look on their site, its really funny stuff: (please put your sense of humor hat on before watching the videos please)

Well I hope that these videos might have brought a smile to your face, and hope you have a great weekend,

E3, Comic-Con, VidCon: Why They Are Awesome

With E3 behind us there are a few conventions left that you should be aware about, and some that have already occurred that you should be aware of. The first big bit of news that happened recently was that Apple just had their own press conference unveiling new devices and showing the improvements to some of the older products we know and love. The conference was fantastic and many people have covered it intensely, though we are aware that many of you don't care about computer specs and so forth so for a good recap of the show you can view it HERE, keep in mind that Phillip D Franco does curse a bit in his videos so if you are offended by that then don't watch that link. PhillyD also did coverage of this year's E3 and will be covering some of the conventions we will be talking about today, so if you are interested in following them as they go PhillyD is a good choice. We're going to give you a brief overview of said conventions here, but we'll be covering it fully as the conventions approach, so no worries, this is more of a "raise awareness to the existence of these cons" post not a "here is everything you need to know about them" post.

The first big con you should be aware of is the upcoming Vidcon, which is basically a gathering of YouTube celebrities where you have all the big names within YouTube come together to learn from one another and have a good time. Last year's Vidcon had a lot of good surprises come out of it, and the videos that circulated from the event were rather funny and educational. If YouTube is your thing then this con is for you, Phill will be covering the con so you can follow the happenings through him or most other entertainment sources, IGN will surely do a piece on it as well, so if you are more of a reader than a vid watcher maybe that will be a better medium for you. Vidcon this year will take place in LA on July 28th -30th.

The big convention that is coming up shortly on July 12th through the 15th is Comic-Con 2012. Comic-Con started as a more comic centered convention but has now become much much more. This convention is big news to everyone for here we learn about new TV shows that are coming out and movies that Marvel and DC are putting together, to comics, a much more. There is no telling what will be unveiled every year at Comic-Con but speculations are high this year on what Marvel and DC have in store for us for next year. The convention is famous for the massive amounts of fans that flock there every year, and of course the great costumed fans that show up keep the show interesting and entertaining.

Some of the big news circulating is that we'll get some more feedback on what's going on with "The Amazing Spider-man", we wouldn't be surprised if some information about "The Avengers" came out there as well. There are also rumors circulating about a possible reboot of the "Green Lantern" series, which would take us by surprise being that the latest movie wasn't necessarily all that bad. A full list of what's to be expected in this year's Comic-Con will be made public as we near the event, but mentioning that this convention exists was the main goal here, many are not aware of the conference and frankly being that this is a big deal we figured we should pass the word along. For more details on this year's Comic-Con visit their main site HERE.

Proof that YouTube's got a lot of talent, MysteryGuitarMan
We all have passions and sometimes great minds get together to put on a convention where great minds that think alike can come together to bond, exchange ideas, share their work with the public and try to make a name for themselves. These conventions, E3 included, are fun for we learn about what the big dogs in the industry are doing and generally get pleasant surprises about what to expect for the coming year, but there is another side to these events, the fact that upcoming artists, programmers, vloggers, and so forth can display their work, network and try to make a name for themselves, and that is an awesome thing. We're all about supporting the little guy, we think that pushing upcoming talent is the future. Sometimes people forget that without these guys the industry would die, and therefore though these events are a lot of fun and a lot of information is passed along, there is also another more beautiful element present, and that is of giving people a chance to show their talent and blow the world's mind.

As these conventions draw nearer we'll fill you in on what is going on, what is being announced and all that fun stuff. We hope your week has been going well, and pray that it might be a safe one.

YouTube's Downfall?

Recently YouTube has taken to inserting more and more advertisements within their site, and that's never a good move. In the beginning there were no advertisements within the Tube and all was well, we could go and watch videos at our own leisure without having to bother with pesky ads popping up. Then one day the ad popping started, we were annoyed about it, but the ads were easily closed down so there were no lasting effects. Some of us started to worry about the future of the Tube, will they sell out? Will this site see its doom? Will we ever get to see the good old days of no ads again? And then the Tube dropped the ball, big time.
YouTube has a large number of users, true, thus they feel that they have finally hit the point where they can do whatever they want on their site and it won't matter, that the people won't rise up to say anything, boy are they wrong. How did the Tube sell out, you may ask, it's simple. By adding full length ads before, and sometime even in the middle of videos, these are not pop up ads like before, no, these are full length ads. Now you might say, "but this has been happening before!" and I would agree with you, but not to this scale. YouTube was originally making big companies add the beginning ads but the other videos had no reason to suffer such a fate, now though everyone is on the same boat, and it's a crappy boat.

If we start thinking about other video streaming sites and what happened to them we can see a trend occurring, and also we can begin to speculate as to what the future of the Tube might be. Let's take Hulu for example, Hulu progressively got worse on their ads as well, to the point that now watching regular Hulu is a tedious and almost ignored feature within their site. To make matters worse Hulu created a paid portion, Hulu Plus, but to make matters even worse still Hulu Plus now has ads within it. Yeah, you read that right, there is no escape, you start selling out, you start thinking that you can do whatever you want and the quality of service starts to drop.

Now you might say, "so whats the point here?", the point is simple Hulu is dying, and will soon pass away, and thus will YouTube follow its opponent to the grave. This will occur when another site arises, another site that decided to take up the mantle that YouTube has dropped, which will definitely happen. The internet is a fickle thing, one must keep moving forward in order to stay afloat. Even the Titan Facebook has its own fair share of battles, the latest being against Google + and Facebook has come out victorious so far, but only because Facebook started to improve on areas that they were slacking, competition is a beautiful thing really.

So what does the future hold for the Tube? Only time will tell, its silly that companies think that they will never be overturned, the internet is not a mistress to be trifled with, he who thinks he is a master of the internet will surely see his doom, if history has taught us one thing it is that this statement is true. What do you think will happen to the video sharing Titan?

It's Friday, Go And Make It a Great One!

Its finally Friday, I'm a believer of the motto "work hard, play hard", you've worked hard this week, you gave it your all, and you deserve to have a calm and relaxing Friday, so we've compiled a small list to make your Friday that much better, including a good movie to get your mind of off everything, some funny videos to relax you and allow you to enjoy yourself and who knows what more, so make sure to Carpe Diem this Friday and have blast friends!

The Muppets

It amazes me sometimes how some people have stopped appreciating "The Muppets", with their new movie out now I've attempted to gather some friends to go and watch it but to no avail, it was a battle to convince some and only found a handful of people that were as excited as I was about it. True its a kids movie, true its cheesy, but its our childhood, its what we  grew up on, how could I not be excited about it?

In case your thinking about going to see it, do so, its a great movie, definitely a great addition to the series and Jason Segel is brilliant, if you love him in all his scattered roles (Specially How I met Your Mother, which is a brilliant show) then you'll love this movie for sure. Let's not forget Amy Adams as well, Amy has had a plethora of fantastic movies she's been in lately, and the most amazing thing about Amy is that she has been a completely different character in many of them, not a normal thing and something to recognize her from, going from Enchanted to The Fighter, to The Muppets and soon she's be Louis Lane in the new Superman movie "Man of Steel", yeah this lady deserves mad props for being awesome. So if you haven't gotten a chance to go and see this movie yet, then do yourself a kindness and go, even if you think it's cheesy, let your inner child out and have a field day.

Funniest Commercial

As Promised every end of the month we'll show you the funniest commercial entry we found or someone sent to us, this one was recommended to us and Oh were we dying watching it, every time we watch it is like the first time, truly a brilliant add, *raises glass* here's to care companies, may they continue to provide us with funny awesome commercials.

A YouTube Channel You Should Know About

This is an older channel, I've been following his videos for a long time now, but it astounds me how many people have never heard of him, mysteryguitarman is a boss, 'nough said, his videos are not only brilliant but show how much work he puts into them, I'm always impressed by his ingenuity and skill, never a bad idea to lose yourself within this channel watching the man at work. Find his Youtube Channel HERE

For The XKCD Fans Out There

Oh don't lie, I know that there are some nerds out there that totally have gone through this problem, even if you're not a "nerd" (in the closet), I'm sure you've googled a question before only to find out that someone has previously asked that same question and to your terror no answer was given even though the question was asked years prior to you asking....yeah it's always unfortunate, a good lol anyway

--------------------------------------------------------------

And there we have it guys and girls, ladies and gentlemen we hope you have a fantastic weekend full of laughter and joy, make sure to get some rest and prepare yourself for whatever challenges you'll be facing next week.

4 Sites You Cannot Live Without

If any of you read the huffington post you might have seen an article they did I really liked titled "7 sites you should be wasting your time on right now" *link* , after reading it I could not help myself and decided to make my own list. But in the spirit of giving credit where credit is due, I decided to tell you where I got this idea from, plus the huffington post is one of the sites I go to a lot, so that's one site to check out :)
I'm a tad more sporadic then they are though, so for the first post on this subject I'll keep the internet domain big and mention various different sites worth checking out (one in each category), or at least a solid amount, so without further ado, here we go.

YouTube.com

There are a ton of vlogs on youtube and a ton of makeshift shows within the site, but Phillip D Franco is different. Where everyone else fails, he succeeds. I've been following his show for about three years now, love his stuff. It's not for those easily offended though, you've been warned. Phil is known for covering what has been going on in the world, placing sarcastic comments all around, (which are great), and also mentioning fun news, and other good stuff.
If you speak sarcasm, and enjoy a good laugh, I recommend you check it out. It's good light hearted fun.

Main site

Youtube channel

Humor Site:

Oh how I love collegehumor, truly a fantastic team. The section on videos title "college humor originals" is specifically amazing, check out their music section, there's this one video spoof they did of "West Side Story" title "Web Site Story" which is brilliant, truly brilliant. They have various on-going shows like "Jake and Amir" which again I love. If you need a break from a long day and want to watch some good quality funny videos that are witty and awesome, then this is the site for you. This is online theater basically, this may possibly be a hint into what we will be seeing in the future of comedy bits.

Main website

Web Comics:

I'm a nerd. Let me start by saying that. A good online comic sometimes really comes in nicely during the day to cheer your heart up and give you a good laugh. My favorite one of all is XKCD, truly a fantastic comic site. Whoever writes that series deserves a medal, the guy is brilliant, truly fascinating. I recommend you browze it, I have the iphone app, yeah, it's worth taking a look.

Main site

Random goodness:

I came across this site about 6 years ago, by a friend of mine that became obsessed with it. A softer world has become a huge source of witty photo comedy for years within the internet. If you enjoy photography and appreciate good writing,  then you will enjoy this site. I wish I knew what else to say about it, but I am no art major, I am just a mere mortal who loves art and truly has come to appreciate this site over the years.

I hope you all enjoyed this entry. Here is the question of the week?

What are your favorite sites from these categories?

Let me know what you thought of the sites, leave a comment bellow, and also let me know if there is a site I should cover that you like. And don't forget to read the huffington post article, worth a read, their selections were pretty witty.
