YouTube Appreciation Day!!!

YouTube has been a part of our lives for a while now and though we loved it at first YouTube has begun to lose some numbers as of late, which brings sadness to our hearts. YouTube is a beautiful site for it allows people to share their talent, lives, skills, and potentially get their name out there while not spending a dime, this is a great thing. With this YouTube recession taking place we thought it would be a cool thing to have a YouTube appreciation day, a day where we post some of our favorite YouTubers on here and give you a brief description as to why we think they are awesome. Obviously some of them you already know being that we feature them quite a bit, but there are a few that you might not know that will help you waste some time this Monday. We hope that you might find some humor within these videos and that they might make your Monday a bit better.

  Phillip D Franco

This isn't news to many of you, PhillyD is by far my all time favorite YouTuber, there is something about his show that has kept me entertained for many years now. He isn't for everyone and we try to keep this blog as family friendly as possible so we won't be posting a video here but if you click on the picture you'll be linked to his latest video. He is the best news source out there, well not really the best news source, but he is a good source for news updates and the general "here is what is happening in the world". The issue with Phil that makes him not family friendly is that he curses a bit and has a tendency to make some jokes that might offend some people. With all that being said, you either love him or hate him, if you don't mind the cursing then I recommend you check him out, he'll keep you entertained and informed, welcome to the nation.

Cheap Cool Crazy

Another thing you might know from reading this blog for a while is that IGN is a great resource for information in the web. What some of you might not know is that IGN has various shows they do on the web one of which is "Cheap Cool Crazy", this show is family friendly and it is a sort of "the shopping network type show where you learn about cool products out there that you had no idea previously existed. If you have five minutes to spare this is a good choice for sure, you might learn something cool. The great thing about IGN shows is that you can count on them being funny, well written, good quality and packed with good useful information, so give it a look you might just love this series.

Up At Noon

There are many IGN shows and this is the last one we'll be featuring in this segment, but we couldn't help including it here. "Up At Noon" is a late night television spoof, so you can expect the corny jokes that you would find in Letterman or Conan but about games, movies and tech. The show does follow the same format as late night television, so you have some jokes in the beginning, some news, and interviews as well. This is a great show for anyone that appreciates those late night hosts, the jokes are cheesy and well written, you even learn some from the show, overall this is by far my favorite show that IGN hosts, and it is a definite good recommendation to everyone.

Epic Meal Time

These guys crack me up every time, they are definitely not family friendly so no video will be posted here but if you click on the picture above you'll be linked to their latest video. This channel is basically a mock cooking show where they make recipes all based off of bacon, each recipe being more absurd than the last, and though they look absurd they also look awesome, they look like something you would love to try and then die from a heart attack due to the unhealthy nature of all the dishes. It is said that since they started filming last year that they gained a combined weight of 315 pounds! The whole thing is absurd, but it is so funny and awesome, we recommend you give it a watch and live vicariously through these crazy guys. We don't recommend you try any of their recipes though, unless you don't care about your heart and such, for though they look appetizing these dishes look toxic to the soul. This is a great show, you should give it a watch and judge for yourselves.

  MysteryGuitarMan

MysteryGuitarMan has been one of my favorite YouTubers for many years now, here is a great YouTuber with tons of talent that should be talked about more and more. He happens to be Brasilian as well and attempts to feature something in Portuguese within each of his videos, I appreciate this being Brasilian myself and all. He has been featured in various sites and news programs, MGM has got amazing talent, be it for video editing to musical talent, the guy is a genius for sure. We have spoken about MGM many times before but we can't help but talk about him again, here is a man deserving of all the attention he continuously gets. If you have a chance you should check out some of his videos today, they will entertain you and make your day a little better.

We hope you have a great week and pray that it might be a safe one. Hopefully some of these videos might make your Monday that much better.

E3, Comic-Con, VidCon: Why They Are Awesome

With E3 behind us there are a few conventions left that you should be aware about, and some that have already occurred that you should be aware of. The first big bit of news that happened recently was that Apple just had their own press conference unveiling new devices and showing the improvements to some of the older products we know and love. The conference was fantastic and many people have covered it intensely, though we are aware that many of you don't care about computer specs and so forth so for a good recap of the show you can view it HERE, keep in mind that Phillip D Franco does curse a bit in his videos so if you are offended by that then don't watch that link. PhillyD also did coverage of this year's E3 and will be covering some of the conventions we will be talking about today, so if you are interested in following them as they go PhillyD is a good choice. We're going to give you a brief overview of said conventions here, but we'll be covering it fully as the conventions approach, so no worries, this is more of a "raise awareness to the existence of these cons" post not a "here is everything you need to know about them" post.

The first big con you should be aware of is the upcoming Vidcon, which is basically a gathering of YouTube celebrities where you have all the big names within YouTube come together to learn from one another and have a good time. Last year's Vidcon had a lot of good surprises come out of it, and the videos that circulated from the event were rather funny and educational. If YouTube is your thing then this con is for you, Phill will be covering the con so you can follow the happenings through him or most other entertainment sources, IGN will surely do a piece on it as well, so if you are more of a reader than a vid watcher maybe that will be a better medium for you. Vidcon this year will take place in LA on July 28th -30th.

The big convention that is coming up shortly on July 12th through the 15th is Comic-Con 2012. Comic-Con started as a more comic centered convention but has now become much much more. This convention is big news to everyone for here we learn about new TV shows that are coming out and movies that Marvel and DC are putting together, to comics, a much more. There is no telling what will be unveiled every year at Comic-Con but speculations are high this year on what Marvel and DC have in store for us for next year. The convention is famous for the massive amounts of fans that flock there every year, and of course the great costumed fans that show up keep the show interesting and entertaining.

Some of the big news circulating is that we'll get some more feedback on what's going on with "The Amazing Spider-man", we wouldn't be surprised if some information about "The Avengers" came out there as well. There are also rumors circulating about a possible reboot of the "Green Lantern" series, which would take us by surprise being that the latest movie wasn't necessarily all that bad. A full list of what's to be expected in this year's Comic-Con will be made public as we near the event, but mentioning that this convention exists was the main goal here, many are not aware of the conference and frankly being that this is a big deal we figured we should pass the word along. For more details on this year's Comic-Con visit their main site HERE.

Proof that YouTube's got a lot of talent, MysteryGuitarMan
We all have passions and sometimes great minds get together to put on a convention where great minds that think alike can come together to bond, exchange ideas, share their work with the public and try to make a name for themselves. These conventions, E3 included, are fun for we learn about what the big dogs in the industry are doing and generally get pleasant surprises about what to expect for the coming year, but there is another side to these events, the fact that upcoming artists, programmers, vloggers, and so forth can display their work, network and try to make a name for themselves, and that is an awesome thing. We're all about supporting the little guy, we think that pushing upcoming talent is the future. Sometimes people forget that without these guys the industry would die, and therefore though these events are a lot of fun and a lot of information is passed along, there is also another more beautiful element present, and that is of giving people a chance to show their talent and blow the world's mind.

As these conventions draw nearer we'll fill you in on what is going on, what is being announced and all that fun stuff. We hope your week has been going well, and pray that it might be a safe one.

A Little Something For Everyone

This year has just started and a lot of awesome things have been getting made, new products are being announced and overall this year is panning out to be a great one. There's so much to be exited about that sometimes its tough to choose what to be excited over. There is an indisputable feeling of re-freshness when one realizes how great a year is going to be, thus we decided to compile a few reviews of cool things that recently came out in order to share the joy and hope that this will be an awesome year, there is a little something for everyone here, there is so much going on already we can't help but look forward to all else this year will bring.

The Most Watched Valentine's Day Movie

The Vow had everything in it to make it a great movie, it had a good cast, a good story based off of a real story which always works well, and the preview of the movie caused many to go into tears mode, one would imagine that this movie would have been great, but there was a forgotten element, an important element, that this movie missed, one that should never be overlooked, the script. The movie in itself was not a wretched movie, it was a fun movie to watch and it was a tear jerker, but it did not have good dialogue to go with it, this is kind of a big flaw. A requirement within romance movies is that those that love chick flicks will go and cry and enjoy themselves while those that don't are at least presented with a good script, some laughs, and an overall ok experience. The problem with "The Vow" is that because of the poor script many could not find enjoyment within this movie, many who love chick flicks have also admitted to the fact of poor scripting, it's unfortunate really. In the end this movie was a 2/5 at best, with good company it might go to 2.5/5.

      Star Wars Episode I 3D

So some of us got the chance to go watch Star Wars Episode I 3D this weekend and we assure you that it was just as corny as it has always and that Jar Jar was as terrible as he has always been. Let's be honest here Episode I is just not that good, the acting is lacking, the script is poor, Jar Jar is in it, and we have the George Lucas' "every scene must have 10 things going on in the background" syndrome. So did the 3D help it at all? Kind of, the 3D effects weren't used often so at times you could take off your glasses and see the movie normally which is to no surprise being that it wasn't filmed in 3D to begin with, some still were disappointed though for the rumors of 3D and the re-release screamed tons of changes and there were only a few so that was disappointing to some. We are on the team that says the least amount of changes Lucas ever does to a movie the better we are, they are rarely good changes to begin with so we're better off without them. The movie is still part of the Star Wars series so loyalty alone carries fans on. The interesting thing about this movie is that the new generation of watchers love it, while the older generation hates it, which happened for good reason, Lucas made this movie with the new generation in mind, so if you go see it do so with this in mind. Overall this movie was a 2.5/5, with good company and comedic commentary it can raise to a 3.5/5 (it's a lot of fun to make fun of this movie).

      Mass Effect 3 Demo

For the gamers out there the Mass Effect 3 demo came out yesterday and it blew our minds. In the demo you go through the introduction and one of your first missions in which you get to test controls, fighting mechanics, you get to see how much they have improved the environment and graphics in general, and overall get a little taste of how awesome this game is going to be. ME3 is the most looked forward to game of this year, so lucky to all other games that its coming out next month, thank god that it is. For those new to the game this is the third installment of the series and its conclusion, the big deal with this series is that its a real time role playing shooter that engages you in your decision making and every choice you made on the previous games change the way the story flows within this game. What this means is that the replay value for this game is out of bounds the most developed anyone has ever attempted before. No game has ever incorporated your choices from a previous game into its sequel, not only that but being able to import your own character is awesome as well. Overall ME3 is promising a ton, even a multiplayer mode which IGN just recently praised, and after playing through this demo we can only summarize that Bioware are actually going to be able to deliver all the awesome they promised. Here is a game worth looking forward to, be it on your PS3 or your Xbox 360, or even your PC, this game will be available to all. Look for it March 6th.

     Source Fed

If you are a long time reader you know we love Phillip D Franco and everything he does on YouTube, well Phil and his team have recently started a new channel called Source Fed where we get everything we loved from Phil's channel taken to the next level and basically we get everything that mattered throughout the day in 2 min segments they call "20 minutes or less". This channel not only keeps you up to date on everything that is going on in the world but it does so with good humor, good writing, and a great cast, they also have a blog with more relevant news to quench your thirst if you want more. Phil or sxephil will continue to produce his own videos that we love and will take part in some of the Source Fed stuff. This is a good way to stay on top of things that are going on around you, new movie reviews, random social critiques and so forth, it is always a good idea to stay informed on what is going on around you. Be warned that Phil has been known to curse and have more mature content so if you are offended don't see his videos but Source Fed is family friendly, at least so far we have not seen any material or dialogue that was risque. So in the end Source Fed is a good YouTube channel to be filled in on everything that is going on around the world, they update whenever anything of relevance is happening, so almost every day, and house some of the most talented people within YouTube, be sure to give them a look.

There are a lot of other updates to be made of games coming out, movies to see, Angry Birds is now on Facebook (What?! Yeah!!), and with the Academy Awards coming up there is a lot happening, we hope you enjoyed today's blog and that there was something in here for all of you. Be sure to come back on Friday where we will be discussing the Academy Awards and putting our two cents on who deserves the Oscars this year.

We hope you are having a good week and we pray that you will finish strong and have a glorious weekend,

4 Sites You Cannot Live Without

If any of you read the huffington post you might have seen an article they did I really liked titled "7 sites you should be wasting your time on right now" *link* , after reading it I could not help myself and decided to make my own list. But in the spirit of giving credit where credit is due, I decided to tell you where I got this idea from, plus the huffington post is one of the sites I go to a lot, so that's one site to check out :)
I'm a tad more sporadic then they are though, so for the first post on this subject I'll keep the internet domain big and mention various different sites worth checking out (one in each category), or at least a solid amount, so without further ado, here we go.

YouTube.com

There are a ton of vlogs on youtube and a ton of makeshift shows within the site, but Phillip D Franco is different. Where everyone else fails, he succeeds. I've been following his show for about three years now, love his stuff. It's not for those easily offended though, you've been warned. Phil is known for covering what has been going on in the world, placing sarcastic comments all around, (which are great), and also mentioning fun news, and other good stuff.
If you speak sarcasm, and enjoy a good laugh, I recommend you check it out. It's good light hearted fun.

Humor Site:

Oh how I love collegehumor, truly a fantastic team. The section on videos title "college humor originals" is specifically amazing, check out their music section, there's this one video spoof they did of "West Side Story" title "Web Site Story" which is brilliant, truly brilliant. They have various on-going shows like "Jake and Amir" which again I love. If you need a break from a long day and want to watch some good quality funny videos that are witty and awesome, then this is the site for you. This is online theater basically, this may possibly be a hint into what we will be seeing in the future of comedy bits.

Web Comics:

I'm a nerd. Let me start by saying that. A good online comic sometimes really comes in nicely during the day to cheer your heart up and give you a good laugh. My favorite one of all is XKCD, truly a fantastic comic site. Whoever writes that series deserves a medal, the guy is brilliant, truly fascinating. I recommend you browze it, I have the iphone app, yeah, it's worth taking a look.

Random goodness:

I came across this site about 6 years ago, by a friend of mine that became obsessed with it. A softer world has become a huge source of witty photo comedy for years within the internet. If you enjoy photography and appreciate good writing,  then you will enjoy this site. I wish I knew what else to say about it, but I am no art major, I am just a mere mortal who loves art and truly has come to appreciate this site over the years.

What are your favorite sites from these categories?

Let me know what you thought of the sites, leave a comment bellow, and also let me know if there is a site I should cover that you like. And don't forget to read the huffington post article, worth a read, their selections were pretty witty.
